Do you think it’s okay to bend the truth, not be honest, not be direct, and not share with others how you truly feel? Do you think this can be related to your reputation and how others think of you?
Do you wonder if having a positive reputation really means anything at all anymore in a world that is filled with exaggerations and flat out lies? I’m starting to sense a backlash. I’m starting to see that people really want to be dealing with the truth, and unfortunately most people are no longer able to see who is for real or not.
What do you do every day to make sure you’re living an honest, authentic life? How do you communicate to others when meeting them? Do you give off a confident sense of honestly that people can see? Do you see every opportunity to communicate as a possibility of making a more meaningful connection? Do you share with others your true thoughts and opinions about who you are and how you see them?
Ok that is a lot of questions but my point is to get you to think about who you want to be as a person because we are all slipping into a world where the truth does not matter.
I suggest you take the time to be as direct and honest as possible. After my epic fail I know the consequences of not being honest and I often ask myself these questions. You see, I went down that path of not being true all the time, and it cost me dearly. As you all know, it cost me 14 months of my freedom. Now, I cannot be any other way except direct, honest and forthright every day, because I realize how important it is to uphold my reputation and it feel good J
Your reputation is everything, especially in today’s world where in an instant it can be blown up by one mistake. You can be labeled as an adulterer, a cheater, a liar, a thief, a dishonest person, all by just making one mistake and having it blasted online for the world to see.
I’ve heard a rumor that Google will someday become your resume. How horrifying is that? Think about all you do online and that is the way you are going to be judged to get a job. Right now, more than ever, your reputation means everything.
How are you going to fill your Google profile? Are you going to fill it with positives, showing good work, showing reputation, showing honor or are you going to fill it with self-serving actions, negative actions, outright lies? Are you going to take inventory of your actions and make improvements to your reputation everyday by doing the right thing every time?
I know all of us want to be socially accepted. I know we want to be seen. I know we want to be popular in our own little world. I know we want to be in the mix. But it’s a very delicate world we now live in and you need to pay attention. You need to balance your social status, and also make sure that you are portraying to others the importance of your values as a person, a human being, and to society.
Take it from a man that took his reputation for granted and is trying to rebuild it. The easy lying road is never worth it. It will only lead you to cover one lie after another and in the end, you will be left untrustworthy and that is why my friends your reputation is everything.
